Product Overview & Context

Diamond Ring Builder is a B2B app which enables jewelry online stores to offer a Build Your Own Ring feature where shoppers choose any ring style & diamond, to create a custom ring. The product is sold to jewelers, but the entire UX is designed around how shoppers interacts online.

I led the product design end to end. My scope included the UX research and competitive benchmarking, information architecture, design system and designing the UI of all ring builder app pages, along with the admin experience that lets jewelers configure features, manage diamond feeds, set pricing, and view insights.

I collaborated with developers for design handoff and reviewed builds through QA testing, validating the experience once live and driving post-launch UX optimization based on real usage.

Diamond Pages, Filters & Search Experience

Diamond listing and detail pages are the foundation of the configuration which supports large catalogs while staying approachable for non-experts. The search experience is built around a clear hierarchy of filters: shape, carat, color, clarity, cut, lab, and price remain visible at all times, while expanded details are grouped inside to avoid clutter. Filters are based on real shopping behavior, where customers start with visual preferences and narrow down.

The detail page focuses on clarity. Specifications are grouped by category, certification is shown upfront, and a single primary action connects directly into the ring configuration flow. The design system uses a consistent pattern for filter chips, badges, and cards, making comparison predictable across hundreds of stones.

Product Pages (Engagement and Wedding)

The engagement and wedding ring sections are designed to feel visual and intuitive. Users explore ring styles first, then move into diamond selection with the confidence of seeing how the ring changes with each choice. The layout gives the ring image strong visual presence, supported by quick-filter chips, metal selection, and delivery promise.

The journey is framed as a simple three-step process — choose setting, choose diamond, review ring — and each step carries forward previous selections without resetting context. This allows customers to explore freely while maintaining a sense of progress and control.

Mobile Product Experience

The front end is built as one connected system across diamond, engagement, and wedding journeys. Diamond listing and detail pages handle deep filtering and data while staying approachable, with shape, carat, color, clarity, cut, lab, and price surfaced in a clear hierarchy. Engagement and wedding ring listing pages focus on visual discovery, with style and metal filters that feel natural for browsing, and detail pages that tie into the builder so a user can move smoothly from viewing a ring to customizing it with a chosen diamond. A shared design system keeps components consistent across all screens.

Admin Experience for Jewelers

The admin side is designed for store owners who are often non-technical. My Plan provides a clear overview of features, trial status, and billing. Settings is where jewelers configure which stone types and options they offer, and how the ring builder appears on the storefront. Language & Region lets them localize all visible text so the app can run in multiple markets. The Feed Center is where diamond suppliers and feeds are managed, including activation and markup rules. The Sales Dashboard surfaces key metrics such as stones sold, activity inside the ring builder, and overall selling price, so the app is seen as a revenue tool, not just a widget.

Impact for Stores and Buyers

Diamond Ring Builder gives jewelry brands a ready-to-launch Build Your Own Ring experience comparable to larger global players, without custom development. Customers get a clear, guided way to select both setting and diamond with confidence, and jewelers gain a controllable system for managing inventory, pricing, and suppliers from a single place. The result is a more transparent, flexible ring buying journey and a stronger conversion asset for the stores that use it.
