MAIA Design Studio is an architecture and interior design practice rooted in craft, context, and narrative-driven spaces. The goal of this project was not conversion or lead optimisation, but to translate the studio’s artistic philosophy into a digital format that feels calm, refined, and intentional.
The website needed to function more like a magazine or design archive than a conventional studio website. The focus was on visual storytelling, spatial rhythm, and restraint, allowing projects, materials, and ideas to take precedence over interface elements.
I led the UI design for the complete website, designing over 20 pages including project showcases, studio philosophy, founder profile, and editorial content pages. The work was done collaboratively with Laburnum Studios, where I handled the visual system, page layouts, and overall design direction.
The entire interface was designed with an editorial mindset. Typography, grids, spacing, and image pacing were treated as core design tools rather than decorative choices. Once finalised, the designs were handed off to development with clear layout intent, interaction guidance, and structure for scalability.
The final website reflects MAIA’s architectural values through clarity, restraint, and visual depth. By avoiding trend-driven UI patterns and prioritising composition and narrative flow, the digital presence feels aligned with the studio’s physical work.
The result is a timeless, brand-led website that positions MAIA as a thoughtful, craft-focused practice, using digital space to extend its architectural language rather than compete with it.
